Goals for February 2019

Well, my loves, can you believe we’re already in February?  It feels like I was celebrating the New Year just yesterday and now I’m sitting down and sharing my goals for February 2019 with you.  How crazy is that?

I’ve been staring at this blank page for days, wondering what I want to do with this month.

At the end of 2018, I got the feeling that I was being too reactive instead of being an active participant in my life.  Life was happening to me and I was simply accepting the hand of cards that I was dealt, just assuming that it was meant to be this way.

In January 2019, I took a few steps towards being a happier me and taking my life back for myself again.  It was a nice feeling.  A good feeling.  And I think that’s what I want more of this month.

Let’s get down to business.


L E A R N I N G

  1. Finish five books (again)!
  2. Work on my Italian every day (even if it’s five minutes).
  3. Get started on my university classes and notes.

H E A L T H / W E L L N E S S

  1. One litre of water per day.
  2. Move my body every day.
  3. No technology after 10:00pm.
  4. Lights out at 10:30pm.
  5. Try three new recipes.
  6. 80/20.

H O M E

  1. Set daily/weekly intentions and cross them off as they’re completed.
  2. Share my daily happy.
  3. Blog three times a week.
  4. Read two books per day with my son.
  5. Make my bed every morning.
  6. Actually get out of bed every morning before 5:30am.
  7. Explore two new places.
  8. Attend an event.
  9. Attend another event (child-free!).

If you look at my goals for February 2019 and compare them to last month’s goals, you’d think they’re pretty similar.  Because they are — to a point.

I’m a person who thrives on routine.  I live and die by my 5:15am alarm.  That is my me time and it sets me up for the rest of the day.  Sometimes I use it to work out, sometimes I use it to write blog posts.  Hell, sometimes I use it to clean my kitchen.  I use it to do whatever will make my soul happy.

And, yes, sometimes that is a sparkling countertop and a clean coffee cup.

This month, I want to establish more of a routine for my son and I.  I also want to establish a life for myself outside of being a student, employee, and mother.  I am a person too and I have my own interests, dreams, and desires.  Sometimes I need to remind myself of that.

There’s no time like the present, right?

At the end of February, I’ll reflect on these goals and see which ones I accomplished, what ones were difficult, and what I need to change to make them obtainable in March.

  1. Its great to set goals but those are lofty. Make sure you forgive yourself for missing a goal every so often. I’ve learned the hard way that I’m happier when my self expectations are lower!
